Getting to Know JC!
-How old are you?
20 something. lol
-Where were you born?
Nashville
-And where do you reside now?
Atlanta
-When did you know that you wanted to be a singer/songwriter?
Since birth. I grew up singing in my family. I come from a singing family so its always been a big thing for me. I used to love imitating Michael Jackson.
-Describe your childhood.
Great childhood. The Cosby Family was my family. My father is a minister and principal and my mother is a guidance counselor, so I had a great upbringing morally and spiritually.
-Describe a day in the life of JC!
I wake up, work out for about an hour, get ready, hit the studio, stay there pretty much all day writing, recording, and doing interviews, perform at night, then I wake the next morning and do the same thing. I travel a lot and go to church every Sunday so you can throw that in there. Very little “me” time.
-What’s the difference, if any, between Justin and JC?
Justin is the super nice guy who allows people to take advantage of his kindness at times, educated, clean cut, etc. JC is the same but with more edge…..the rebel.
-Aside from singing/songwriting, you love to…?
Play basketball and shop….oh and play PlayStation.
-What eases your mind, when you’re feeling overwhelmed or stressed?
Chilling with a fine woman. ; )
-Any special lady in your life?
My mom. That’s about it right now. Other than her, just friends.
-Who are you inspired by?
Just being a goal-oriented individual period. I’m inspired by the fact that my parents instilled in me the knack for chasing and reaching my goals.
-What’s something people might not expect from you?
They wouldn’t think that I’m shy. But I am.
Music
-How long have you been singing/songwriting?
12 years
-Prior to your deal with Block Entertainment you were?
Working, in school, and on my grind with the music.
-How did the deal with Block Entertainment come about?
I was on my grind, selling my indie album in the streets (www.cdbaby.com/jcsmooth), this time actually after a talent showcase and my CD just ended up in Blocks hand, he called me up, I came to the A, and the rest is history.
-Who are some people you have collaborated with?
Rick Ross, Gorilla Zoe, Young Joc, Shawty Lo, Jodi Breeze, soon to be Lil Wayne
-How did you and Rick Ross hook up for your single “Tic Toc”?
I met him at a hotel and was like I got a hot record that I need you on. He was like “that’s whats up, I respect your grind. I don’t see that often with R&B artists.” He heard the track and he immediately agreed to get on it. We chopped up the business end and got it poppin’.
-Who are some people that you will like to collaborate with in the future?
Beyonce, Lil Wayne, Ciara, Alicia Keys, Linkin’ Park, Brandy, R Kelly, The Dream, and a LONG list of others.
-What does your music bring to the table?
Variety. It takes all styles of R&B and roles them in to one.
-Your favorite song to perform?
Nobody Gotta Know
-If you wasn’t rapping you would be…?
Well, I’m a singer. Lol but if I wasn’t singing I’d be writing for other artists….something dealing with music. I can’t work a 9 to 5.
Issues
-How can we change the industry, being that we are future role models?
Cleaner music….crafty lyrics, but clean content.
-Your thoughts on the election?
OBAMA!!!
-How do you feel about the Sean Bell situation?
It shows that racism still exists.
-Do you think Hip Hop music accurately portrays sex or do you think it negatively influences younger kids?
It definitely has a negative influence but its still the parents responsibility as far as raising their children right and restricting them from anything that may be harmful to them.
Future
-What does the future hold for JC?
Platinum albums, awards, and achieving my goals….maybe even some acting.
-What’s up and coming for you? (tours, album, etc.)

-Advice for upcoming singers/songwriters.
Do EVERYTHING. There’s not ONE WAY to get on….talent shows, showcases, conventions, DJ pools, mixtapes, albums, demos, etc etc etc
-Any Shoutouts?
Nashville, Atlanta, Hot 107.9, V103.3, Tre Stylz, Kerry Carter, Lexi, Block Ent, and everybody who supports “JC”….oh and my Myspace friends. ; )

-Craziest thing a groupie has done?
Followed me to the hotel and told the front desk that she lost her key and needed a new one after finding out what room I was in. She came in my room while I was in the bed and was begging me to have sex with her. I was like WOW!! BTW….I didn’t do it.
-Do you ever think that you’ll be in love with a stripper?
NEVER…maybe in “lust” but it’ll stop there. I’m to jealous to let my woman take off her clothes for other men. Its gotta all be mine. I’m selfish too.
